Stay One Step Ahead of Fraud

Scammers rely on urgency and trust to trick people, and anyone can be caught off guard by a convincing story. A few simple habits can help keep your LENDEN account and money safe.

Three things you never share

Your PIN, OTP, and account balance are yours alone. No LENDEN employee, agent, or partner will ever ask for them, not by phone, SMS, or social media. If someone gets access to these details, they could empty your account or misuse it to scam others.

Your PIN

The digits that authorise your transactions. Treat them like the key to your home, never share them with anyone.

Your OTP

A one-time code sent only to you to verify a transaction. Never share it with anyone — giving it away is like handing over access to your account.

Your balance

Knowing your balance tells a scammer exactly how much they can try to take from you.

Common tricks worth recognising

Fraud attempts may take different forms, but most follow a few familiar patterns.

  • A familiar voice in a hurry

A caller claims to be a relative, senior official, or someone you trust and says they need money urgently. The urgency is the trick, it is designed to stop you from taking a moment to verify who is really calling.

  • A message from a hacked account

A friend’s social media or messaging account is hacked, and the scammer uses their identity to ask you for money or personal information.

  • A late-night call promising fortune

Someone pretends to be a spiritual or supernatural figure and promises blessings, hidden treasure, or a cure in exchange for money upfront.

  • A prize you never entered for

A fake cashback offer, lottery win, or gift from a well-known brand that asks you to pay a registration or processing fee before you can claim it.

  • Money that never arrived

A fake SMS claims money was sent to your account by mistake and asks you to return it quickly. Nothing was ever sent, the “refund” comes directly from your own balance.

Four habits that stop most fraud

  1. 1

Call back on the number you already saved

Never trust the number that called you. Hang up, find the person in your own contacts, and call them back yourself.

  2. 2

Verify any offer with the company itself

Use the brand’s official hotline or customer care to verify an offer, never call a number provided in the message.

  3. 3

Check your balance in the app, not in an SMS

Only the LENDEN App can confirm your actual balance. SMS messages can be faked, so always check the app before sending money or taking action.

  4. 4

Never change account settings on someone else’s instruction

No one should ever guide you through your LENDEN account over the phone. If someone tries to, end the call immediately.
